Ben’s MeiVici

This is Ben’s very own MeiVici.  The MeiVici, introduced in 2006, became one of the most successful and sought after Serotta’s. Designed and fully fabricated ‘in house,’ the all-carbon MeiVici captures the essence and road manners of the Colorado (steel) and Legend (titanium) Serottas with an uncanny combination of silky-smooth ride and incredible power transfer. This is an authentic American-Made classic road bike that will continue to ride like it was new for decades to come.   

If you are 5’9” – 6’1” (175-185cm) this makes for an incredible road riding machine. 

Campagnolo Record 11spd runs like new (or slightly better!). 

When new, the frame alone sold for $8,000 or more… This bike would have sold for about $12,000 when new.

The MeiVici name was drawn from the Latin “My Victory,” as a tribute to Davis Phinney’s inspiring “Every Victory Counts” talk that he developed to inspire people living with Parkinson’s.  

This MeiVici was Built in 2011as a replacement for Ben’s first MeiVici.  “That one, was only slightly damaged when I was broadsided by a pick-up truck. Miraculously, in some frozen nano-second of time, I somehow separated from the bike, which then got caught up in a front wheel well, where it jammed the wheel, bringing the truck to a stop about two feet from where I lay on the road in front of the truck. It saved my life and was remarkably intact.  Not the product testing I’d recommend, but it did prove beyond doubt that the bike was engineered and built to an outstanding standard. “  

Why is it being sold?  Throughout my life I have kept a lean ‘stable’ of bikes- 3 or 4 only.  I’m always focused on what’s next…. Developing new ideas, trying them out while also keeping a bike or two from the past to ride as comparison.  I believe that truly great bikes deserve to be ridden, and it honestly pains me to see bikes deprived of a regular spirited workout (hey, bikes that you’ve loved, have feelings too!), so it’s simply time for this great ride to have a new home.
